Development PNG Magazine ~ Edition 41, January 2023

Updated: Jun 28

Hello everyone and welcome to Development Papua New Guinea magazine’s first and 40th edition for this year, a monthly magazine about the positive and ongoing developments in the country.

We are in agreement to Prime Minister Hon. James Marape’s 2023 New Year message. Looking back, we as a nation have encountered many difficult situations but have also been able to overcome.

After the COVID-19 epidemic, we saw inflation brought on by the Russian-Ukrainian Crisis, which had a negative impact on the prices of our products and services, particularly fuel and food.

We also faced difficulties during the 2022 National General Election, and the outcome did not meet the desired expectations of everyone but we managed to get through.

Nonetheless, despite all of the financial difficulties we have had, we must enter 2023 with hope.

Every New Year brings a time of reflection on our accomplishments from the previous year, our future aspirations and a variety of other things for which we are grateful.

Our cover story is about a local grape producer, he took a detour in his life and is now a major supplier of grapes in Eastern Highlands. He has brought light to a whole new venture and the responsibility is now on the government to step in and support where necessary.

Nevertheless, still at the magnificent kol peles Goroka, it is wonderful to learn about the K8mil education complex, which will act as a one-stop shop for all parents and children. How convenient it would be to be able to take care of all school-related matters in one location.

As we go a little further up to Southern Highlands, Mogol Secondary School is embracing a digital future. This is an advancement for a good cause and needs an ovation. By investing in such an initiative, we enable our children to gain knowledge in a variety of fields, including agriculture, business, accounting, medical, law, teaching, carpentry, sewing, public relations and more. They also get to learn about politics, cultures and languages of other countries in the comfort of their classrooms and labs. Enabling them to autonomously create their own lives and contribute back to their communities is the goal and what better way to achieve all of that than the use of technology.

We bring to you, development stories in all tones some are serious, entertaining, sensitive, informative and for awareness purposes but all are equally important. We want you to know that you are the reason we can do what we do and improve the quality of life through our magazine. It is because of you, we can give voice to those who are not being heard, and also provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and perspectives.

To conclude, we intend to continue to focus the majority of our resources to highlighting the wonderful things currently happening around us. Our only request is that you, our readers, join Development PNG magazine to acknowledge both the accomplishments of our people individually and collectively as a nation.

Have a great 2023.

Happy Reading!
